The “Zero Emissions, No Noise” is now available more like a
luxury sedan than a typical electric car (like the
Dynasty or the
GEM Car),
with optional features like a sunroof, a stereo, and air conditioning.
The
maker of the vehicle, ZENN Motor Company Inc., claims that its energy
efficiency is roughly the same as a gasoline-powered vehicle getting 245 miles
to the gallon. Based in Toronto, the car sells for $16,000, has a 6-8 hour
charge time, can get you up to 25 mph with a range of 50 miles. However, the
company is expecting to have a highway-capable model for sale by the fall of
2009.
