Vehicle Transport
Open vehicle transport is pretty much exactly how it sounds: an open vehicle transport truck subjects the cars that it is hauling to the same road hazards and conditions as the vehicle transport truck itself. This is the most common and cheapest form of vehicle transport, and is preferred by 90% of people who use vehicle transport services. Open vehicle transport is he cheapest simply because it is the most common form of vehicle transport, as the trucks are relatively easy to maintain, and you can fit a lot of cars on a large open vehicle transport truck.
Vehicle transport carriers are always looking to maximize the money that they make, and if they save time by piling ten cars onto their vehicle transport trucks, then so be it. But open vehicle transport is safe and reliable – there are accidents, but these are relatively rare. It is important to note, however, that if you won’t subject your vehicle to daily driving conditions, then open vehicle transport probably isn’t for you. If you’re shipping your daily commuting vehicle, then there is no reason to go with any other type of vehicle transport.
Speaking of other types of vehicle transport, the other major choice for vehicle transport customers is enclosed vehicle transport. However, enclosed vehicle transport is much more expensive for several reasons: the first being that an enclosed vehicle transport truck can only fit two or three vehicles in their container, meaning that they cannot take nearly the number of loads that an open vehicle transport truck can. Therefore, enclosed vehicle transport companies must charge more for the loads they are carrying.
But that’s okay, because most people that are looking for enclosed vehicle transport have the money to afford it. Enclosed vehicle transport is typically only recommended for collector cars, expensive sports cars, expensive classic cars, or just expensive cars in general. If you’re shipping a Rolls-Royce Silver Spur, chances are you don’t drive it to your office job every day on the freeway with thousands of other cars. You probably only drive it through the countryside on a perfect sunny day with nothing better to do. Maybe you take it to your weekly golf game at the club. But the point is that you don’t subject it to the elements on a daily basis, so you wouldn’t want to expose it for a few days on the back of an open vehicle transport truck. You want to protect it.
It goes the same for any expensive vehicle, and enclosed vehicle transport is the safest and most reliable form of vehicle transport for expensive vehicles. It protects them from the wind and rain and hail and rocks and dirt and dust that you get everywhere on the roads today, and it makes sure that it won’t get leaked on by other vehicles, and that it’s completely out of harm’s way. So if you’re shipping a 2004 Nissan Maxima, chances are you won’t need enclosed vehicle transport – but for those of you with the nice, spendy cars, you’ll definitely want to check it out.
